neither welcoming holland or italy ; neither here nor there

The hub's been buzzing about this essay on welcome to holland and truly hilarious spoofs , welcome to italy by autistic biatch from hell & welcome to nowhere by asperger square 8.

I make it a point to read the blogs made by autistics because reading them always gives me hope. I adore Amanda because she has this look and actions that reminds me a lot of my ReyMey. Who would've thought that she was actually a very intelligent, warm and compassionate person considering that I saw her first as the pity model of autism on an autistic org and then she turns out to be absolutely wonderful. Years ago I started reading blogs because I also saw similarities with Megan, Kev's daughter & Charlie, Cristina's son -- them almost being the same age range as my ReyMey. NT's are weird, when ReyMey grows up I wish he would be just like Joel, or even Larry (Prometheus Rex) for that matter You see, it opens up a lot of possibilites for me, the future is rosy and he, my ReyMey, he can be anything he wants to be. And now there's another new read in blogsphere, MJ the 11y/o son of VAB (aoskoli.blogspot.com) pretty much because MJ's an even nearer image of my son, in terms of academic, humour, and skills (OK maybe not in sports) not to metion the dad is so much like me (driven). I share the same feeling with successes (ah finally I can die!)

Which brings me to those essays, having read it through, my son-- he's neither Italian nor Dutch already. It's true what Bev said -- my son, he's in Italy but he's from Holland. He can speak Italian but not quite good enough to be ever considered as local; he's definitely certified dutch but can also never quite connect with dutch kids so they think he is not--- so he's neither here nor there-- we kinda eased him out of both places--- but isn't this pretty much like calling children names?-- there's something wrong here and they shouldn't be compared to as being in Holland or being in Italy, why "country". This can definitely lead to being prejudice-- so if my children are reading this, don't follow mum, this is like when I was telling you not you to not not like Ko****s outright. Have an open mind.

At this day and age of knowledge, transportation, technology, I knew what I was thinking when my children were born it was "Welcome to this World".

PS. I've been to both countries actually, a long time ago before kids were born and I liked both. I guess since I am from the Philippines I don't take travel lightly, It's a major event-- it had always been exciting just to see a different country, any country because after that it is always wonderful to go back home unless my family was with me when I'm in another country, then it's OK to stay wherever.
